And a .17 HMR?

Recommended Posts

This is from a site called 'Varmit Al's field testing the 17hmr'. I got a CZ 452 in 17hmr and zero at 100yds. As you can see from the chart, if you put the cross hairs on any thing from 25 to 105yds you'll hit it without having to compensate. 17hmrg.png

Same as Hunter 1, I zero mine at 110yards, about 100 m. It squeezes a few more yards out of a flat trajectory.

This is a little table I made up, for glueing inside scope cover, for the ranges I need to aim off or adjust.

Good luck with rifle, you will have some fun.

As per the Varmint Al table it's a good guide...50yd zero for me, a touch of holdunder to around a 100yds.IMO it's not as flat trajectory as some say,a good round in favourable conditions, wind 5+ mph over 100yds & the windage can be a bit hit & miss.

As Tegater's has posted on here.it's capable of some impressive ranges...246 yds in his case  it's like any sport/hobby..you only get out of it what you put in.

What MOA does your scope have Tegater?

Thanks all

Looks like it'll be 110 yards then for zero to start and a lot of practise to get used to the new range and trajectory. I'm looking forward to zeroing it etc as soon as the howling winds around here subside! Typical :censored: !

Cheers

Duncan, youll love it, you dont have to worry to much about the 'rainbow'. I was shooting at varying ranges the other day from around 80 to 170ish and with the scope cranked up to 18x for shots at 170ish I was just holding over the equivalent of 1 mildot.

Once past 200yds the tiny bullet start to really drop fast, around 2" for every 5yds or so, give or take a little. But still good for long range stuff on a wind free day, see Tegater's videos.

From zero range of 110yds to 200 odd yards the drop is only about 11", but from 200yds to 300yds the drop is around 40"

Looks like howling winds are set to stay till next week, so if you have some permissions with deep long drainage ditches thats where will be findng you then :)

Is this your 'actual' dope or software? I only ask as to be honest I havent bothered to do a range/drop test yet and as you have the same rifle and all that :)
