Season started - call out

Recommended Posts

Had a call in the week from my brother who is a keeper asking to have a look at a spot he noticed pulled out less than 50 yards from one of his partridge pens. Got there this evening and found the spot which looked promising so i let my bitch and a sniff around the entrances. She wasnt to keen on the main ones but was straining to get in a less busy looking one so i checked the collar, set her up and let her go.

Well it was literally straight in and straight on like a rocket, no messing and baying nice and steady from the off. Gave it a while and got a mark at 0.6....nice easy start back! Ground was rock hard still, very dry and very flinty. Few shovels fulls and broke through to find her nicely in control of the situation. Dispatch and back filled just as the rain set in. A nice start! Managed a few pics back in the yard after a quick clean up.

i wouldnt judge a dog by its time to ground but more by its performance when in ground. ive seen terriers in ground for 2-3 hours only to be 6 or 7 foot away from there quarry or to let stuff by just

Yes i did read it and if you read it again he says it was a call out,so noting to do with seasons, and i could not be arsed to start argueing over the rest of your rant.

Cheers guys.   Stop end, ....Hot spring/early summer + no substantial rain at the time = HARD GROUND.   Surely you can understand that?   My main permission is the commerecial shoot my brother

Cheers guys.

She is coming good Scent. Best dig was last one of last season on another call out on the shoot. Just over 5ft, the ground was solid due to it being early summer and she was to ground for about 1hr 20. That was hard work!
