Size of lurcher for charlies

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the replys guys but tbh I don't think he would take one not got the right temprement, my full collie has more fight in her, but he's spot on for rabbits and that's all I'm bothered about :)

cheers

You'd be surprised.. Most beddy crosses I've seen are placid as hell up to a point but once they get a bit of fire in their eyes there's no stopping them..

I saw a handful of beddy/whippets tackle fox years ago but none as small as yours, the bigger type - 22" or so. They've mostly all done a job, some much better than others but they wouldn't be my out and out choice for a foxing lurcher, far from it. JMO.

my mates beddy whippet dog 19" catch and kill as many charlies as you could show him. you dont need a big dog for teeth

If you were doing any significant number you DID need some size, if it were legal i'd ask you to bring your mate 19" beddy whippet over and i'll jack it in one night. Did this beddy/whippet do 3/4 a night four nights a week or just the odd few a season?

the lad baught it for rabbit until it self entered on a charlie at 9 months old :/ iv got photos but ill have too make sure hes alright with it first. the most the dog has took in one night is three but n weve called it a night purely because three charlies is good for round here. the following night he took another dog fox. bedlington crosses proberly arent the best fox dogs pre ban but people under-rate them because of their height. mibes 23" at 6 1/2 month and big boned i bet people wont under-rate her just because of her height which is bollocks :/
