First proper days bushing this year, wet, wet, wet.

Recommended Posts

Herdwick, Blackstaff, his boy and I had our first proper walk round this season. Met at herdwicks for a coffee, had a look at the weather and decided the rain would probably hold off.

Both my bitches are in season so i had Parker, jrtxwhippet, and Ollie the terrier, herdwick had his full pack out 5 jrt bitches including Tanner the new pup and his beddy whippet grey Midge and Blackstaff had his staffy bitch, Dolly, and her daughter Pearl bullwhippetgrey.

We set out just as it started to spit, looked like showers but it was warm so left jackets in the van - how wrong we were! Within half an hour it was persistant heavy rain and we all got soaked.

The dogs are all used to working together and all worked well today. There are not many rabbits on this ground compared to alot of places but they seem to be caming a come back here and there whic, provided myxi dosent get them, bodes well for the season.

We caught three rabbits, one by Parker as it bolted and two in cover by the terriers. One was retrieved very well by Dolly but the other was eaten by Tanner, the new pup, who needs to learn about retreiving! We had several more on the go but they werent keen on being flushed and were loast to ground.

Blackstaff, aka David Bailey, had his posh camera out, although it spent alot of time wrapped in a tesco bag hiding from the weather, so photos will follow along, no doubt with some more of a write up.

A nice morning over all, im really looking forward to the rest of the season!

You, Herdwick and the boy maybe, not myself and my umbrella :whistling: It was a nice start to the season for sure albeit a tad damp :D The fact of getting stung by a jasper :censored: :censored: will stay with me for a while mind you. Thanks to Herdwick for having us down and being able to give the dogs a stretch and some ' good ? ' company on a sunday morning. Here are a few pics for you guy's to look at,sorry they're not as good as normal but my camera spent most of the walk in a new housing i am in the process of patenting, ala ' Waterproof tesco chic ' :good: As normal hit the link for the full set of pics, hope you like

Nice to see the young lad out with you, got a little damp myself this morning and discovered I need some new boots

The boy love to come hunting mate, he's normally on the list before me :D Funny you should say that about boots, we all said the same thing this morning whilst walking with soaking wet feet :D

Been wet before and no doubt I shall be wet again!!

As you say, it was nice to be out again. Apart from the shitty puppy who needs to learn some manners, the dogs all went well I thought.

I suppose the excuse for Tanner is that she is not yet 5 months old and she will learn that she cant stay in a bush and eat the rabbit but until she does its bloody annoying!!

Hope Bill likes his shepherds crown. Should be easy enough for him to find more, now he knows what to look for.
