edge007 11
i was turned down 5 years ago for having a public order offence but thankfully growing up and acting accordingly i know have my fac and shotgun that came with a letter telling me that any incident that comes to the police attention will automatically revoke my licsense so it is a case of if you cant be responisible then it only right you cant have guns I got that letter also, it does make you grow up straight away!!! charlie caller 3,654
We all like a drink mate but sounds like you cant handle yours im afraid, seek some professional advice about the drink mate,I dont like to say it my freind but at the moment I agree with the police you are not fit to hold a sgc, sort yourself out, stay within the law for a couple of years if it means that much to you, then try again, but to be honest cant see it happening. The Duncan 802
Give it 5+ years of not getting noticed by the police for drink related offences or any other behaviour that relates to public order etc and they may consider you fit to hold shotguns or firearms. Until that point comes neither they nor me would consider you to be a safe custodian of any kind of firearm. I wish you all the best in life. Duncan. Quote Link to post

Holding FAC and SGC does make a man more responsible. Even in roadrage incidents I won't engage and I reckon i'd come off well ahead physically - but I won't risk my certs! When I was younger and more of a fighter things may have been different, but now I have a lot to lose for the sake of self-control. D 1 Quote Link to post
Shaunm41 14
A lot of views all pointing to the same thing really.. I fully understand where your all coming from.. Been able to own a fire arm of any kind is a big responsibility and I understand why I wouldnt be fit at the moment... Maybe if i keep going to the gun club regular for the next 5 years and keep my nose clean I might have a chance.. No more wild nights out in town for me though.. I spoke to BASC and they said i might have a chance if the custody report doesnt say I was drunk but he also said thats a pretty slim chance.. 2 Quote Link to post
The Duncan 802
With your 'take it on the chin' attitude in that response, I would be shocked if you didn't get what you want in time. Hats off to you chap! ATB Duncan Quote Link to post

Shaunm41 14
Well I fully admit, I have been in more than my fair share of trouble over the years and im the first one to hold my hands up and admit I was wrong. Maybe now is the time to grow up and move on. I really enjoy clay shooting and would love to have a try at some pheasants one day but for the minute I have to accept my past life style is going to hold me back for a while.. I now have a 4 year old son and i have my own business so things are looking up, I just need to lay off the mad sessions and im sure everything will work out ok in the future.. Quote Link to post

danw 1,748
if there was no action on behalf of the police ie. caution or fixed penalty then you would not need to put it down on your application and they couldnt bring it up a means of refusal as no action was taken Great stuff.... I just woke up in the morning and the custody seargant took my prints and pic & gave me my things and showed me the door... Didnt even get an interview... Think I jut had to sleep off the beer I had drunk.... Although the 2 police that nicked me were right T**TS.. They were wragging me about in the back of the car twisting my cuffs, smashing my head off the door and allsorts, said I was resisting arrest... Quite how sitting there in cuffs ment i was resisting is beyond me... One of them pinned me down and said "i will make sure u never get your sgc" I mentioned all this to the custody seargent in the morning and after putting me back in cell for all of 3 minutes after my prints had been taken he sent me home.. Wonder if that was to shut me up?? How did the plods who nicked you know you had made a sgc application 2 years ago and where thinking of reapplying cant' imagine when the plod do a pnc it reads your mind too Quote Link to post
