mudd dog 128
Go onto u tube and search for pike setup and tips. Watch and take all in, make sure you have the correct unhooking gear and knowledge before you do go out. You'd probably be safer off getting someone experienced to go with you for the 1st few times just to show you how to hold and unhook them correctly without doing yourself or the fish any unnecessary damage or injury......... Good luck......MUDD....... Edited September 4, 2011 by mudd dog 1 Quote Link to post

NEWKID 27,360
Go into your local tackle shop mate 9 times out of 10if your keen and polite they'll be only to happy to help out, as with all types of fishing theres loads of methods, baits ect and different things work on different days/ venues and time of year. You shouldn't go far wrong spinning or plugging at this time of year as the fish are quite active plus you can cover a bit of ground, look for likely looking spots, weed beds, rushes, alongside boats, roots, ect. Pike are ambush pedators ( in the main) so attack from cover, cast alongside the cover and vary your retrieve rate try to put life into the retrieve stop and start or twitch slightly to give the impression of an injured fish. Once you've worked out the areas they hold up in your likely to find and catch some fish. You can then try different tactics to suit conditions ect. Like's been said get a decent landing net and unhooking mat, forceps ect ask at the shop what you need mate. Hope you get lucky mate. Atb Kev Quote Link to post
