how to get an allrounder fit

Recommended Posts

just wondering how everyone else gets the allrounders fit? i have seen plenty of topics on how to get lamping dogs or daytime dogs fit but i have yet to see a topic on allrounder conditioning and fitness. i get my dogs fit by a 3 day cycle, with day 1 a 5 mile jog, day 2 10x200 metre gallops, and day 3 being a rest day, as i said at the beginning just wondered how everyone else gets there allrounder dogs fit?

Do you fancy explaining why an 'allrounder' will require different conditioning and fitness than a lamping or daytime dog?

because daytime dogs are required to less runs for longer, whereas lamping dogs are required to do more runs for less time. so with lamping dogs i like to do sought of interval training, whereas daytime dogs i focus more on endurance training

Fair point matey, i would have thought though, that endurance training would also benefit a lamping dog, for long nights? And interval training cannot harm a daytime dog. As the man said though - just do both for your 'all rounder'.

i would say run the dog fit on game {not over doing it to start of with} after all something else as importent as fitness is the dogs timing {strike etc} and you dont get that running behind a moter or long walks atb shane
