bedlington lurchers

Recommended Posts

where do all the good bedlingtons come from to breed all these lurchers ,must be hard to find a working bedlington.

Exactly  most beddy lurchers are bred out of right fecking potlicking bedlingtons, i guess there is some bred out of the right stuff but seen as the working bedlington gene pool is very small it does make me wonder

You're probably right mate, but for every bull cross bred from the real good stuff I reckon there's plenty more that are the result of someone chucking a fat bull terrier over a greyhound because it once barked at a cat..

This is my first cross bedlington/whippet he's 7months in the pic, he's coming up to 12months now and leveled out at 21"tts I havnt done much with him yet just basic training but he's caught a few things on his own, hell of a nose on him and will push through any cover if theres something in there, comes from genuine working parents

here's a question, if a kc beddy was bushing rabbits and being a good bushing dog you could call it a working dog yes or no? whereas a digging beddy is definitely working but in the breeding of say a beddy whippet, the one bred with the kc beddy will be faster or more likely to be if you think about it they are racier but they are less likely to ahve the same prey drive. Would you sacrifice the speed of the kc dog to have a digging beddy as sire/dam or vice versa because we all know that a beddy whippet will never be the fastest cross.

there was a place ,something fell kennels advertising a few years ago, where was he getting the bedlingtons from, and were they anygood.

heartbreak fell kennels think it was in the lancaster area. heard some people say some good dogs come out of there. some said the opposite. same as a lot gets said about people with breeding kennels to suit the market.
