And why would you need a fearsome dog for rabbit...And do you not want a dog that crashes through hedges and gives you 100%..... very strange. Your happy to have a dog which is nasty to other dogs, yet doesnt have the balls to pursue its catch...... to be honest the last thing i want is my dog running into fences and going mental through hedges , if the rabbit goes through - lamp of dog back on the slip onto the next one Quote Link to post

My dog has nasty edge that I like to have where we live makes having a good aggressive dog a bonus. You say does not have balls to pursue its catch yet I see it as having the brains to not pursue to a unlikely catch . From what I read on THL his catch rate is strong yet I dont spend time patching him up and trips to vets etc. My comment about his aggressive natural was born from the oringnal OPs question I have not trained his natsy streak it comes and I dont know if its common in beds x so I was just giving feedback that along with that he has a strong prey urge. Pre ban a charlie would be of no issue for him which is why I used the word fearsome. Like all thease things we have diffrent opinins. Good luck with the season Cookie Quote Link to post

The arguers and the doubters, havec only picked up on the fence hitting etc... As i really havent heard a working lurcher described like this but like you say, each to there own...How old is the dog mate? Also a rabbit going into a hedge isnt really an unlikely catch. An opportunist catchs quite a bit more game... One of my dogs is to brainy for her own good, and many times the other has piled in their when she pulled off, and reappeared with the game... Thats was great until a night in the early 90s when his bitch as you say desire in your dogs followed into the hedge at full tilt only to become impaled on a cast iron stake just at the wrong angle . Yes pure hard luck but it was not that image of the bitch howing in pain that haunts me its the guy pulled her of the stake and slit her throat which was the best thing for her. But he just left her there and carried on lamping as if nowt had happened . But the beddy x in question isnt just a rabbiting dog as he says , it makes easy meat of charlie preban... And it really gets on my tits mate when she turns away but luckily she isnt just a rabbiting dog and benifits me from her other quests... :thumbs: Anyway, like you say, each to there own.
