Bulldogman 55
I doubt it and wouldn't like to test the theory. If you want a manstopper then the temprement has to be spot on for this type of work and just getting dogs from tested parents wont eliminate the risk as variables in a litter mean not all would make the grade. Even some schz titled dogs may perform on the training field as they see this as a game, an ob routine with bite work if you like, but i wouldn't trust them to guard me or my property in a real life scenario. Unfortunately unless you get into a real life situation its a hard thing to test for, this sphere of dog work is very specialised and the amount of people I would trust to test/evaluate a dog in this way is minimal as the risks are a f*cked up dog.... jsmith 103
I'd go for a rottie everytime, used to have a lot of them years ago, rock solid, great around kids and family, they have an inbuilt guarding on /off switch so they don't have to be trained to guard, I've seen these go in real life and it's truly f@@king scary and I guarantee whoever is stupid enough to take one on will still be there or what's left of him will still be there when you get home. fazza123 516
Bulldogman very true words ! No matter the pedigree you don't know what the dog will do until you need to !
Rottphoenix 3
Id go for a rott everytime. I think the right one will have the correct sort of temperment to live with a family without to much high energy like a GSD/malinois, while still being capable of the job you want them to do given training and leadeship. German bloodlines only and try and find one with more work emphasis if you can. Keep away from a mixed pedigree of Uk and German or european in my view. Id take a bitch rather than a male as it will probably be easier for your family whle you are away-our bitches dont have any problem guarding the house and kids Best family dog you can have-but Im biased of course! Good luck
