spaniel crosses

just wondering if anybody had tried this cross.i have a springer that has killed

most of the cat population around here.i try to descourage this but he is a died

in wool cat killer.just made me wonder how a half cross would fair on fox

as i have yet to see a mark on him

I don't think the cross would be a good fox dog, the odd one may make it but I would think there would be a high percentage of jackers. Could I borrow your dog? This fella is making inroads into my chickens.

I know a guy who tried a spaniel x greyhound cross he said they were like first cross collie/greyhounds to look at, and they made good rabbiting dogs

hi luke have a friend that has a 3/4 grey x 1/4 lab he reckons its was really easy to train it to retrieve,had a great nose and would mark a hole only if someone was home and was lightning quick,cant see why a spaniel cross couldnt do the same,will e-mail him for some pictures..

best dog ive ever saw work was back in the early 's first cross springer/greyhound. never saw another one since. that dog was better than having a gun if it saw/smelt or heard it. it caught it.worked cover, retrieved in water the ideal all rounder dont know why it never caught on!!!! or maybee it was just a one off.

A mate of mine also had one years ago it took all quary for him with style, proper loyal aswell it used to go everywere with him never needed a lead.

good topic! i've been thinking about this cross for a while, i've had people say they're bloody awful, and people say they're brilliant. the only first hand experience i have of springers is the mad one my parents had when i was little, which had to be put down when i was 3 because it hated me, and tried to rip the wire off the run to get at me but that hasn't put me off them (years of therapy were needed though! )

anyone else got any pics or experience of springer/greyhounds? i'm seriously considering one for my next lurcher (won't be for a while though, next dog will be a terrier, once i've found a new house).
