patterdalejoel 669
a wild ferret would never come into contact with milk in the wild, and even a small portion is big in comparison to a ferret. Quote Link to post
isa hunt 3
ferrets are carnivores and eat meat, they are designed to eat meat, bread is not meat. Isn't it I thought it cane from a cow ... I'm well aware bread isn't a meat. Dogs are also carnivores so why feed pasta and veg? Isn't it I thought it came from a cow ... I'm well aware bread isn't a meat a dogs digestive system is a little different to a ferrets, it only takes a ferret around 2 hours to digest the food, it takes a dog a lot longer. Quote Link to post
nat 8
Yeah but he was saying because a ferrets a carnivore they should eat purely meat so it should be same for all carnivores. Look at it from my point if view I changed my ferrets food from fresh meat with dry food to fresh meat and bread milk , the ferrets looked a lot better on the new diet so it wouldn't of made sense to change back? I know what your saying, Each to their own.. Just that meat is better for them than bread and milk. My grandad used to feed his fish, and scraps of meat/carcase. The odd occasion eggs. My uncle feeds his, ferret kibble and meat (Rabbit, Pigeon, pheasant and chicken). I've just got 2 kits, i feed them lactol, minced chicken and will soon be introducing softened kibble. savaloy 1
mine live on mainly shot woodys, plucked & then frozen for later use, they love em, they also love magpies, shot & out of larsens, they have a bit of milk now & again & the odd egg just because they like it. they also get rabbit heads, rib cages etc, bit of fish now and again. What they like most of all though are caught mice, used to have a big aviary & caught loads of em then gave em to the ferretts, they just love em, read somewhere a mouse contains everything they need & is about the best thing you can give them ?
