My ferrets have never looked so good, they probs won't get it in summer tho bread and milk? i heard this isn't good for ferrets as bread swells and ferrets are lactose intolerant? Quote Link to post

patterdalejoel 669
ferrets are carnivores and eat meat, they are designed to eat meat, bread is not meat. 1 Quote Link to post

patterdalejoel 669
to me, the ferrets in my hutch are wild apart from their temperments. and i once read, for us to get the best out of an animal, we must replicate their natural behaviour. now i cant let them run around in the garden, but i can feed them like a ild polecat, namely meat and what they would find/catch in the wild. bread and milk is not found in the wild, and a ferret is not designed to digest either effiecntly, so it is pointless and possibly damaging feeding bread and milk, as it is filling stomach space where meat and all the goodness and vitamins and minerals could be being digested, just my thoughts. 1 Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,935
Don`t give milk,, ferrets can`t deal with it,, It used to be fed, cause it was cheap, no need for it now, Mines get cat milk every now and again (lactose free),, the odd egg etc,, but mainly they are on a mix of dry and rabbit, mainly rabbit when the freezers full,, but they get anything I can find,, fish, pigeon, squirrel, chicken, etc etc, They also love a wee bit fruit,, any fruit, especially bananas and grapes,, small amounts though Quote Link to post
