Car Insurance....WTF!!!

Recommended Posts

I'm with swiftcover on my Vectra, currently paying £320 per year fully comp....not bad. I've got 7 years no claims and haven't made any claims or had any convictions in the last 12 months and haven't changed cars.

Just had my renewal quote £1149..............what the f'ck is that all about????????????

I despise all insurance companies!

Phone round and get some real life quotes, dont be afraid to haggle, then ring them and tell them what you intend to pay, I had a quote for £400 for my R1 from Carol Nash, rang and told them to bollocks, told them to cancel my insurance because they were to expensive, they then knocked it down to £170 with brake down cover added ;)

have you confirmed with the insurance company its not a mis print or something. you should still be able to get the same or similar as last year if you go elsewhere

They are all thieving twats are insurance companies. Just sorted my car renewal out, managed to get it down to 12% less than I paid last year after my current insurer tried to take the piss with my renewal. It's a f*****g funny old game, going through comparison sites I got a best quote of £356 with Endsleigh. Go to the Endsleigh site and put the same details in and the fuckers try and charge me seven hundred and odd quid for the exact same insurance, with all the same details etc. :chair::feck: :feck:

I had it with churchill years ago, they were the cheapest for three years and then all of a sudden it doubled, I rang them and they wouldn't budge and when I did a few searches I found out that they deliberately put it up after three years so you move to another company. Something to do with the fact they've had a certain amount of money from you so they want you to leave before you make a claim. Bizarre!

I always phone round anyway, that quote is laughable though!

If they quote £500 say you got offered £250, they don't usually even pretend like they can't match it. Direct Line have been the best for me so far, I had a honda civic type r at 21 and my insurance was cheaper than a 1.6 peugeot 306 I had with churchill the same year. Just haggle!

the consumer council here has made a complaint to the office of fair trading because of the prices. around 89% higher here than over the water

I'd guess the price difference is based on historical events, I know I wouldn't want to be leaving my car parked in some of the places over there!

And that would be on both sides.

haha very true that pal, but the prices where unbeliveably high during the quietist times aswell. where i live now theres no trouble and it would still cost me about 3 grand to insure a 1.6 car and im 25 and have my license 2 year. robbing c**ts if ye ask me.

For my last renewal the company wanted nearly double the money, something like £900 fully comp for a 2.2 Zafira with 6 years NCB. I queried it with them and they tried telling me that all companies had put their premiums up by 70% and I was actually getting a good deal.. I politely told them that that was a load of bollocks & got my insurance from Direct Line for something like £340.

PS, I'm 33 and have held a licence since I was 17.

There's tossers aren't they. I'm 34, been driving since 17, 7 years NCB and it's a 10 year old vectra 1.6!!! over a grand????? There's probably teenagers in sports cars paying less than that! well not quite, but you know what I mean.

Funnily enough, I've just had a call from my insurers for my battered up Polo....800 dabs!! It's gone up £500. The fiddling cnuts. He did a quick comparison while on the phone and told me he'd got it down to £500 with Aviva. I've just been on Gocompare and got it down to £272 fully comp with Churchill. The cars worth £400. I've put the wife on the policy, that seems to help bring it down. She'll never drive it as it stinks like a fox earth.

When I was younger I used to add my dad onto the policy, it brings the insurance down straight away cos of his age.
