the consumer council here has made a complaint to the office of fair trading because of the prices. around 89% higher here than over the water

I'd guess the price difference is based on historical events, I know I wouldn't want to be leaving my car parked in some of the places over there!

And that would be on both sides.

haha very true that pal, but the prices where unbeliveably high during the quietist times aswell. where i live now theres no trouble and it would still cost me about 3 grand to insure a 1.6 car and im 25 and have my license 2 year. robbing c**ts if ye ask me.

3 grand!!!!

That is harsh!

Last year i got a car for the misses to learn in, did a deal with her mother and got a megane scenic auto for her 2.0, she was 23 and on a provisional licience, £1100 to insure with kwik fit, fair enough. (i was 40 and have a co car but given her age and prov licence understood premium risks) renewal came in after passing her test £3300....i phoned up asked them if they was on crack?

Direct line got policy back to £1k but given she is still only 24 and its fully comp on a 2ltr for ferrying kids i thought that was fair enough...

Shop around mate, all you can do...

It was with AXA through a broker called Thamesbank. I've used them for years and they've always been really good, I've not spoken to them yet as I've only just got the renewal notice.

I will be doing some proper shopping around though, as that's just taking the piss.

I had a call back today from my insurers asking if I'd got another quote..."Too feckin' true fella" I tells him, "£276 cash or £302 on the never never". "Erm, I'll see if I can do any better from that first price I gave you yesterday", (over £500). Taps on the key board for a minute...."How about £450 and £160 cash back in 3 months?". "Can't you do any better?" says I....Pause, tapping on key board, " How about £190 cash back?"....."I'll think about it fella".
