Plong 21
Most household floor cleaning products are safe when watered down as a lot of houses have toddlers small children etc that will come into contact with the floor. Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
What ever you use if it goes cloudy when its added to water AVOID it will almost certainly contain phenol, to be honest i use a bucket of hot soapy water & a stiff brush , on the flags , for anyone who keeps tere animals indoors in plastic bottomed cages get a handheld steam cleaner & once you have blasted it with that just dry it out , cheap & cheerful effective way to get rid of any germs Quote Link to post

Adam_Chuck 256
whats the best to use for a hutch with pvc flooring? Quote Link to post
mike1458 14
I use dettol floor cleaner and that goes cloudy. I have looked up phenol and dettol and I can't see how it is harmful? Wikipedia says that phenol is slight acidic and will burn in its pure form, but watered down is absolutely harmless. They even put it in a Scottish whisky. Not saying your wrong kay, but I cant see anywhere that says Phenol should be avoided. Mike Quote Link to post
ferret100 47
Phenol is classed as corrosive & toxic by the Environmental Protection Agency. Exposure to phenol can cause lung, heart, liver & kidney problems and can burn the skin. If you use disinfectant contining phenol, really try to rinse it very well, if you can still smell it, then it can cause a problem. Best to avoid using it if you can though as it can cause just as much problems for humans as it can for the ferts. Edited September 2, 2011 by ferret100 Quote Link to post
