A pleasant stroll. . . . .

Recommended Posts

Had another long day in work. Took the dog out for his walk, with a jill and a few nets along as usual.

Had a nice walk a long some hedge rows, getting marks here and there, but still too much cover to be bothering with them this time.

Then decided to let Finn have a hunt about a piece of scrubby woodland, that i know holds a few, and has some clear patches, as wel some horrible thick bits.

There was a fair bit of scent about, mostly in the cover, but then got a decent mark on a set half at the top of a stream bank and half on the vertical side of the banking, dog marked three separate places, which was interesting, had some fun netting up the holes on the vertical, but got it done, turned out to be bigger than i thought, about 20 holes.

Dropped the jill down and it went dead, got a mark about three foot, but directly beneath a root, just as i was thinking about getting the spade, bumpedty bump bump, the red light is banging about the mark3. Locater down as the bunny hits the net by me, one down.

Jill is still down and then number two bolts out a vertical hole, and is neatly pursed. Nets back on.

Bit more silence and then there is a wee brown head peering out a hole beneath me on the banking. It looks about, and then gets a ferret up it's arse and makes the suicide leap into the net. Jills decides f**k that and emerges on the top and buggers off to her box.

Had a bit more of a walk and on the way home, dog marks a nice two holer, one in the wood on one side of a big fence quite covered over and one in the open field, decide to put the dog over field side and give him a bit of sport, net up my side and enter the jill, looking forward to watching the dog have a nice easy run and catch.

Bump bump bump, rabbit comes back out over the ferret (must have) and out my side, into the net which, tangles on some cover as i grab rabbit, so close but no cigar, rabbit gives it the old crouching bunny, hidden ninja, shit and is gone, dog looks at me is it to say 'nice one bell end' before attempting to scale the fence and pursue, rabbit is long gone to ground in the cover.

Ah well, can't win em al.

Three in the bag, and then did a bit of stock training on the way home.
