dai dog 11
i dont think a half cross would catch as much round here, so its gotta be 3/4 for me , i couldnt in a million years swap speed for stamina! Quote Link to post
dai dog 11
we need a dog that is able to turn its quarry before it makes it to cover, so for me yes it is a better lamp dog, but it could well be the case that a half x is better for you frankie! horses for courses, its all about terrain! GOOSE 0
3/4 grey 1/4 saluki 3/4 grey 1/4 collie 3/4 grey 1/4 wheaton take your pic all are good enough Quote Link to post
minion 29
My last lurcher was a 3/4 Greyhound 1/4 border collie and I found it a very good cross. I have always liked collie lurchers and the 3/4 is more of an all round dog. Fast enough for hare, large enough for deer and fox and good on rabbits. Reasonably easy to train. I hope to have another some day once I have more space. Quote Link to post
minion 29
World.Hunters on the site has a 3/4 bread collie grey and as far as i know his dog is turning out great. Dont think he'd swap him for a half cross. Quote Link to post
bullx 12
Well lads i have read the posts and i think they are very true,i bred half bred deerhound greyhound and suluki x greyhound years ago,and most of them were as good as any lurcher day or night, but i have to say that a three quarter bred was a different story completely, and the half bred could,nt hold a candle to the 3/4 bred Quote Link to post
Giro 2,648
old post this like but will chuck my tuppence in... Some folk have said there 3/4 run all night how long is all night really and how many rabbits or pre ban game are they catching??? I have heard folk saying great dog run all night and they only get like 5 rabbits well that really just anit running all night.. I aint saying they aint got stamina seen a 3/4 1/4 bull run day and night it just looked like a grehound small head not bully at all it could catch daytime hares and about 15 rabbits on the lamp then it was on its side.. in the dayime it could only run a hand ful of hares was a great dog sigle handed fox dog regular not once a week.. But it did not have great stamina it depends what you want how much your going to work your dog/dogs JMO Quote Link to post
