The mongols use the wolf carcass for this and that, and I think they used to get a bounty on them once, not sure if this is still the case.

If they can earn a few bob to get a bigger yurt by it, then best of mongolian luck to them, there's feck all else out there anyway.

All trainned and Hunted Birds when in condition will take on things that they would'nt normally Hunt in the wild, wether it would have been a successfull outcome without Human assistance is another matter? my money is on the wolf if they was left to it long enough..

Trainned Sparrowhawks will even tackle things alot lager than themselves like Cock Pheasants crows and even hang onto the odd Rabbit but keeping hold of them is another matter ;), the Wolf jumping up the horse looks a bit Suss in the video :hmm:..

A guy in this area Andy Reeve used to fly a Spar out of the car window at crows, he would be out the door and away as soon as she pretty much left the fist to assist her before she got hammered but hang on she did until help arrived.....

Controlling the deer would be just an excuse. Sheep, pets, and general livestock make much easier prey .In their natural state, wolves will avoid man every time. This country has too many twats like bill oddie, having a hand in projects like this, a slight imprint on a wolf, and you potentially have a man, or child eater. Not a good idea in my opinion.

although im pro hunting through and through i dont believe in killing for killings sake ie for bravado, bragging rights to make your chest size tripple ect so why would anyone want to hunt a wolf ? you are definately not gona eat it and after all our sporting dogs of today all descend from the graceful wolf. i have the same opinion on wale hunting, elephants , tigers ect ect as i just dont see the logic or point.

:good:

thing that gets me is that they will ban hunting with dogs

but are prepared to let wolfes controll the deer that will

subdue them and eat them alive.funny country we live

in :hmm:

:clapper:

I dont know the first thing about falconry but Berkutchi is that bird capable of killing a wolf?Jeeze I find it hard to comprehend that a bird that can stand on your wrist is powerful enough to take down a wolf, but hey the camera doesnt lie....does it?

Have a look at this mate http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AItT4-wOPwc looks like Mongolia and there using Eagles to take a wolf.

deadly video that :victory:

thta wolf looks more like abig coyote the wolves ive saw were as big as a dog greyhound in height and some 80 to 90 pounds, they would kill an eagle maybe im wrong but i know from first hand they kill hounds and dogs they can smash elk, deer etc bones into bits so well, a large timber wolf, the eagle would have to go some the ones ive saw, maybe the steppes wolf is smaller like acoyote , impressive any way
