mudd dog 128
I've been out a few times over the summer and although I've caught the usual summer jacks I havnt had any double figures as of yet this year. I know it's a bit early yet but I have been speaking to loads of other pike lads that have been saying the same. The general word on the street is the pike fishing is worse than ever. What's your views on this or do you's disagree with me on this ??? I've also notes that there hasn't been to many posts as of yet on here lately with any lads catching pike either !!! What's your views and post pics please to prove me wrong lol........cheers......MUDD...... Quote Link to post

mudd dog 128
I caught a right few doubles last winter biggest 26 1/2 pounds. My mate caught the same fish 3 months later full of spawn. At 29 1/2 pounds. Though from that all we've had is jacks. A lot of people are putting the blame on foreign nationals taking and killing everything in sight but as it deffinately wouldn't help the cause I'm not convinced that's the only issue here. Maybe the weathers still not right and the big pike will start being caught when the winter kicks in. Thong is I fish alot of lakes deep in the countryside that would be rarely fished and I know from experience that there's plenty of big pike in them but there not being caught lately. Changing methods and baits hasn't been working for me so far and I know I'm not doing nothing wrong so what do you do??????? Quote Link to post

Keep trying.there is a load of small little lakes about me all tucked away out of sight,so the foreigners dont know them and they are teaming with pike.I have actually seen the foreign lads out fishing on lene in them little blow up things no bigger than a bath, lol mad b*****ds,lene is no small lake and can get very rough at times very quick.I have finished fishing now as the digging has started, and i dont fish the pike, but we caught a hell of a lot of them this year. mudd dog 128
Good stuf fat man glad to hear that. I'm starting back with the terriers myself next week so I'll be concentrating on them mostly myself. Come the cold weather I'll probably give the fishing another try to see if things have picked up. Maybe there's too many shoals of bait fish and easy feeding for the pike with the warm weather, so in the winter they might be getting it tight enough for feeding and I might get a few better results. ???? Just a thought. Quote Link to post
hunt and fish 35
Small pike being caught in the 6 mile river. The only place there are being caught is 12 mile from lough neigh so they havnt swam up or they would be getting cought all over the river. Someone has put a lot of these in recently all around 2 or 3 lb. Everyone caught has been killed. Quote Link to post

fin and fur 2
Had a stint on the Kennet & Avon 2 weeks back and sadly caught nothing, mind you given the volume of holiday canal barges i'm not too surprised. Quote Link to post
