gnipper 6,487
One of mine ended up with red raw pads when I used carpet in the bed trying to scratch herself a nest up and ended up with carpet burns. I use blankets or hessian sacks for mine. I get new clean sacks from work so they are free and disposable.
Bootsha 1,306
Shredded paper, a good depth of it in winter, not so deep in the warmer times. Try and get a regular supply and build it up during the summer months, as when your dogs are wet during winter, while drying them off, it does, after being wet enough, go off like paper mache', but its easily burned. Gunner123 103
Use shredded paper and the like as mentioned. Old quilts and blankets look like they are comfy but get damp in unheated kennels. Damp can ruin a dog, and next to never dry out.
