I'm not saying that it would be a good cross as I don't know but the original, working Shar Pei is a decent dog. It was originally bred as a general purpose working farm dog but it's another one that's been well and truly f****d up by the show crowd.

 

My neighbour has a really good looking one as a gaurd dog...It scares the crap out of me anyway.

probs accidental mating but i bet the pups would be handy guard dogs, dont judge one of them sharpies by the looks, other than that i wouldnt touch one with a barge pole!

we breed shar pai in to our pig hunting line. now running dogs and den dogs .we hunt every thing with our dogs rabbit,fox,pigs,scrub bulls,and the odd roo when were hungry we looked for years to find a good shar pai dog with hunting back ground my brother crossed it with bull arab bitch and keeped a pup one of the best working bitchs iv ever seen hard as nails.

so my other brother found a shar pai bitch crossed it with his aus red catle dogxstaffy kept a pup he has about 500 pigs under his belt.

i crossed his dog with my red nose bitch and kept a pup he has about 50 good boars under his belt best 90 kgs one out dressed .

we bred it into the our lines to stop rips in our dogs from tusky boars and becouse they dance around there pray like a boxer.

it has worked out very well for us.they are great all round dog .

so i crossed my brothers bitch with running dog deerhoundxgrayhound for the young bloke so its 1/4 shar pai its 15 mounths old now and its got hundreds of rabbits and 18 foxs this winter he stands 28 inchs to shoulder.

i also crossed my catle/staff/sharpai x red nose with foxy bitch (den dog) to get harder den dogs iv started the 3 pups i keeped and they bolted 15 off the 18 foxs they would be 1/8 shar pai hard as nails stong as oxes and 11 inchs at shoulders and next litter of new den dogs on the ground in 2 weeks

so i would try one of these dogs before i knoked it i would look for one that was leggy big head and little rolls over the eyes

and would think that if x back with running dog(lurcher) as u blokes call them.you would have some of the best dogs going and i would pay top $$$ for a good one
