Col_c88 41
I boil the rabbit until the meat is falling off the bone before I do anything with it.. Curry is easy.. just curry sauce, rabbit, onions, mushrooms.. cook for however long the sauce takes can put it in a slow cooker with gravy and veg.. get some nice roast potatoes on the go before you get it out or dumplings.. my favourite though is rabbit goulash..1 Rabbit 2 Onions 2 Tablespoons of Paprika 2 Cloves of Garlic 1 Can chopped Tomato's 1 Large Potato 1 Teaspoon of Sugar Pasta of choice Cooking oil Pinch of Salt make sure the onion is thickly cut.. dont dice it and place in a large pan with oil. Let the onions cook for around 3-5 mins. Add the garlic using a garlic press or just chop it extra fine and the rabbit. Cook for a few more minutes and then add the paprika, stir for no more than 1 minute so as not to burn the paprika and add the can of chopped tomato's. Use can as a measure and fill with water and add. Add a pinch of Salt and bring to the boil, turn down to a simmer. After 30 mins add the potato roughly cubed. Cook for a further hour or so until the potato is cooked. Five minutes before serving add the teaspoon of sugar. Serve on a bed of Pasta or with some nice garlic bread etc.. 2 Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
Heres my best tip - Rabbit can taste a bit shit to be honest, it's the urea in the blood, so get a big pan and boil some water in it, and dissolve a load of salt in it, then joint your bunny (s) and when the water has cooled, stick them in it and leave them to soak over night. The salt water will draw the urea out of the blood / meat and will greatly improve the taste. Then cook however you want. You can use it like any other meat, spag bol, pie, casserole, sandwiches, chilli, curry, burgers etc etc etc If making burgers or something like that then you will need to add some pork fat or equivalent as rabbit has a very very low fat content and so it will be very dry and will fall apart. 1 Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
to be fair, once you season the meat and add all the other ingredients, mince is mince. Nothing like a young bunny, pan fried with some garlic, olive oil, mushrooms, onion and bacon. Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,936
Always soak overnight in water,, even if it`s unsalted it will improve the meat,, then just use it as any other meat. Made pumpkin soup a while ago,, held some back, spiced it up and reduced it,,and cooked rabbit in it,, was fekin stunning !!,,,,,,ah`m hungry now like ! Quote Link to post
