Guest dances
ive seen dogs that will release on pulling there collar but also seen dogs that dont let go til its dead. you said the dog should hold til its dead, now say for example your dog catches a young fawn whilst out walking during the daytime, would you kill it so the dog let go? personally id use my little break stick that ways about half a lb and have the dog off before it had done any damage. second example, you have caught your game on a field thats both hilly and wet and the dog pulling is stopping you from using the knife efficiently, would it not be easier to break the dog and pass it off while your foot is on it so that you can dispatch it? or if the dog was mouth to mouth and taking damage would you leave it til the animal has died, being mouth to mouth it aint gonna be a quick action is it Quote Link to post

Moll. 1,770
So a dog that will catch quarry, hold or release.....whichever it's owner has instructed it to, is a no good dog, owned by tools. . Yet dog which will not let go of quarry and has to be forced off with a breaking stick by its owners who cannot get the dog to do it any other way is much better 2 Quote Link to post
Guest dances
Noone said that moll but people use breaksticks cus they're quick ans easy. There's no way I'd be without one for the big dogs Quote Link to post

Millet 4,497
It sure is confusing Moll..the best thing to do is play along with it,,and let them think they are awsome dog men..that way 20yr's down the line they will realise how silly they really have looked...and maybe go red in the face if they have half a brain. Guest dances
Have you ever owned a bullx millet? Quote Link to post
Sirius 1,391
Millet, they are just kids trying to convince people they are 'rough tough' big bull cross owners . A break stick can be useful I am sure but you lads are obviously trying to big yourself up more than likely too much testosterone lol 1 Quote Link to post

nat 8
Quite offended by some of these comments I'm a 17 year old lass and work my dogs on rabbits hares pre bam and ferreting, I would of liked to of tried foxes but had no 1 to do it with and my dog isn't up to it, but to be honest I wouldn't no were to start purely because my dad got me started working and he had never done foxes, it would be stupid to go straight in so like everyone else no matter what sex needs to start somewhere !!!
