Are you sure they are flat because im sure some saluki types have what is know as 'hare feet' they are a longer foot than the usual tight cat type bull types can have. Both are thought to have there own benefits?

MOLL.

Found this info for you...

Different paws for different dogs

Although all dog paws are basically the same, some are shaped slightly differently than others. Many breed standards specify "cat feet," which are the result of short third digital bones. These compact feet require less energy to lift, allowing the dog to conserve energy and increase his endurance in the field. Akita, Doberman Pinscher, Giant Schnauzer, Kuvasz, Newfoundland, Airedale Terrier, Bull Terrier, Keeshond, Finnish Spitz, and Old English Sheepdog are among the breeds with catlike, compact feet.

Hare feet are elongated with the two center toes longer than the side toes. Breeds with hare feet include several of the toy breeds, Samoyed, Bedlington Terrier, Skye Terrier, Borzoi, and Greyhound.

Breeds that work in water tend to have webbed feet. Newfoundland, Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Portuguese Water Dog, Field Spaniel, and German Wirehaired Pointer are among the breeds with webbed feet.

They do look flat on the pic.

Some road work will help put them right, but remember if the dog has not had much before his feet will swell, so just take it slowly but surely. I did the same mistake myself once, poor lad looked like he was walking on hot coals at one stage!

at 5 months, your pup is still growing into his feet. my saluki/grey has quite long feet, and i swear they change shape week to week, depending on what we're doing! i spoke to a saluki breeder at a show, and she said that salukis should have feet like a cats'. although, logically, you'd think bigger feet were better for running on sand? i wouldn't worry too much about it at the moment, let him grow, start some road walking, if they don't change much, then that's how they're supposed to be!

I've never yet seen a Saluki with cat's feet: they tend to have quite big feet, and like others have said the toes are often fairly long, but they should have a good arch to them, with thick pads: made for running on soft sand. Road walking and plenty of sensible regular exercise will bring the feet right, though don't expect miracles overnight if the pup hasn't had proper exercise so far in its life. I've taken on adult rescue dogs in the past whose feet were totally flat, and I have seen the feet change shape for up to a year afterwards: your pup should be fine as its still quite young.

The feet look pretty normal for saluki types. I wouldn't worry much.

hi there; my mate rang me tonight ; he had been talking to his mates with a lot of knowledge on running dogs and they are saying that he should'nt have flat feet and the chances are he wont make a running dog because of his flat feet; which they say will more than likely cause him damage to his feet; this is stressing me out as i wanted him to become a runner any help please
