barbed wire enemy or the dogmen/women

Recommended Posts

We all have seen what barbed wire can do to our dogs and I was wondering why someone would design something so stupid so I looked it up. This is the first patented design for barbed wire.

It looks like the original inventor thought about other animals because he had spools with spikes on them. I'm wondering if this would have been safer for dogs then stationary barbs that don't move. What do you think?

But looking at the original design do you think it would have been safer for dogs since the spool would turn freely?

Yes it would have. Obviously it cost alot more to produce doing that way.

Because the top strand is meant to be set at what is considered stock height ( four foot) and if you dont put two strands between that and the top of the netting then it will not serve purpose, in as much as that cows will put their heads between the bottom strand and the netting to either rub or eat from the hedge / boundry.

Its great stuff!

I even wrap it around the top bar of the gates but never put it 6inches off the ground lol!

Same here. Brilliant invention.

We don't do the 6" off the ground. We stay at 12" All gates get the BW treatment. If I had my way we'd string it every where. I'm never in a rush to clear up the old stuff either. Those that need to know, know where it is.
