darbo 4,774 Posted August 24, 2011 Report Share Posted August 24, 2011 a upset woman came to our allotment the other day. asking could someone rehome her birds a cock and hen.as the neighbours were complaining. my dad is a soft touch with birds so he took them. they are 21 weeks old.in lovely condition. when i went to look at them .they are black tailed japanese bantams. they are here to stay as my dad has taken a shine to them. anything you can tell me about the breed or advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks. gerjan 7 Posted August 25, 2011 Report Share Posted August 25, 2011 Al i know is that the hens are supposed to go broody easily and they are very good (foster)mothers to the chicks. I've got one blacktailed japanese bantam and she took care for chicks from other hens that were given to here, most other hens don't want to know notting about unknow chicks. Moll. 1,770 Posted August 25, 2011 Report Share Posted August 25, 2011 Hello Darbo, Iv'e never kept Japs, the birds i breed do have Jap in their ancestry, the only thing i know about is the lethal gene (to do with the short legs) it prevents something like 25% of the chicks to die before hatching.
