Ideation 8,216
More ferret food needed, so another quick trip out this evening for half an hour. Decided to take the same jill, the dog and a few nets. Went down the garden, jumped the fence into the woods, let the dog do his thing, and soon enough had a decent mark, on what i thought was one set, with another about 10/15 yards away. Netted up, turned the collar on, dropped down Tilly the terror, and off she went. Then i hear the bumpedy bump, but coming from the other fecking set, so it looks like over summer they have connected the two. Quickly dashed up to chuck my remaining couple of nets on the set where the banging was coming from, only to have rabbit bolt from the original set i netted, luckily the dog is faster than me, so he held that, while i finished laying the nets i had (leaving a few holes unetted on the 'second' set). Went down to dispatch bunny, and relay net, hung bunny in tree and got a double bolt from the 'second' (and now joined set), luckily straight into two nets i had just laid. Lucky me, picked two to net up, left three unetted and this time picked the right two! One rabbit held by dog, other by me, whacked both on the head, ferret out, job done. Went home, fed the ferrets and had a nice brew. (She just can't get enough of them tasty bunny eyes!) (Much appreciated!) Hope you enjoyed the write up and pics, Happy Hunting! Ideation 8,216
Bad luck kittle! Without finn marking, i'd be fecked to be fair. There are a lot more sets here than rabbits to ground (especially at this time of year). I couldn't ferret without a dog, the thought of laying all those nets only to have the ferret go half a foot down then turn round and come out is not a pleasant one. Quote Link to post
KittleRox 2,147
Aye yer point about time of year, I netted a large pile of logs as best I could today thinking there would be some at home as it has had previous but nowt today, I still enjoyed it though, pup was paying a bit more attention and the sun was shining lol Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
SR - Hope you do mate! KR - Aye, i can't wait for the snow, everything is to ground then and the occupied looking warrens usually hold bunnies. Right now, i'm always seeing very fresh looking holes, lots of fresh shit, red earth etc, and then dog says no! If i didn't have the dog i'd forever be netting up empty holes. Quote Link to post
