Phil8282 8
Hi Mate, is it a bit of a beast! I bet it's heavy isnt it?? Zeroing a scope is easy, first make sure you've got all the mounts nice and secure to the gun and to the scope, and some pellets the gun likes, its hard trying to zero on a 3" group at 25yards! Make sure youve got a steady hold and can shoot from a stable position, zeroing whilst standing for example is not a great idea, off a bipod is preferred! Aim at a piece of paper with a mark on, I use a big cross so I have a refrence for my crosshairs, shoot a pellet with your crosshairs on the mark and see where the pellet lands, if it doesn't hit the paper move closer and try again until you hit the paper and can see your pellet hole, now comes the adjustment! If the pellet hit left you'll need to click the crosshairs round to the right to compensate, and the same for up and down, you'll get there by trial and error eventually so stick at it! If you run out of adjustment try swapping your mounts front to back or even left to right, sometimes it helps, scopes can also be shimmed with thin strips of material such as photo film or thin card if needs be, but on qualiy mounts i doubt you'kk have an issue! If you get stuck have a look on youtube, I'm sure there are vids on there of zeroing your scope! best of luck! Phil 1 Quote Link to post

andyfr1968 772
I know scope choice and spec is a rather personal thing, but I think you're right. Total overkill!! LOL For field use you'd be far better off with something a little less target shooting focused, IMO. Good advice above and good luck however you choose to go on. Cheers. Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
Jesus it's big ain't it! Scopes are zeroed in commonsense fashion. ELEVATION TURRET = UP AND DOWN. WINDAGE TURRET= LEFT/RIGHT. Decide on what range you wish to shoot at; mark your target with a fine dot as an aim-point and fire. If you are, let's say, lower and well left of your mark. You need to raise the elevation to line your next shots perfectly level with your mark. Next, turn your windage turret to right to bring your shots across to land on your mark. When you can hit your target perfectly on the crosshair at your preferred range, your riflescope is zeroed to your rifle. Simon Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
Personally mate you'd be a lot better off starting with a nice compact 3-9x40 scope for your rifle here, than this monster. You'll then perhaps better appreciate what this mega mag scope is and what it can do with a lot more understanding of it as an accurate target optic. But it's not going to help you much in a low light dawn/dusk hunting situation where a much lower mag setting is going to be greatly needed. Still it's all experience and that's always a good thing. shepp 2,285
Sorry to say this mate but that was a bad choice of scope for the gun and the job you're using it for. Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,935
Sorry to say this mate but that was a bad choice of scope for the gun and the job you're using it for. No it`s not,, It`s muckle cause the sunshade is still on it,, it`s only a 50 mm objective. It may be slightly more complex to use but it WILL do the job,, very nicely as well. Quote Link to post
