I must just be very lucky. I've owned a Berretta and a Franchi and both jammed. In fact after the Franchi AL48 I owned, I vowed never to ever buy another semi-auto ever again and gave the Mrs full authority to whack me on the head with the frying pan if I ever, just once did. Well I did and she did not and I have been amazed and extremely happy with my Escort. Never one jammed, not even in the slightest bit of a jam. Shot around 200 cartridges last clay shoot, not one jam, not even the slightest bit of a jam. Yes very happy. I am also very happy to see such bad reports, because if I am ever in the market for another semi I know that the Escorts will stay so cheap.

Ferretmad your looking at buying a shotgun and already asking what carts to avoid to stop it from jamming, I think you may have answered your own question.....

 

Me Im also a wild fowler and I don't get up a 3am drive over an hour in winter walk out on the foreshore and sit in some shitty creek with freezing cold water up to my nuts waiting for that single duck or goose to fly over for my shotgun to not recycle or worse still just go "click" which happened to a mate of mine who bought a hatstand.

 

Respect to those that have found a good one, you can only base your opinion on personal experience, my experience is totally different I have nothing to gain by steering anyone away from these hatstands other than hopefully saving them buying cheap and regretting it but make your own mind up.

I've had one for over a year now, and like you, heard good and bad reports, all i can say is that for the money and the 3 years warranty you cant go wrong, if you have a problem they will fix it, i use mine for wildfowling, and clays and only had the odd light cartridgre not cycle when clay shooting, how i see it is i mainly do wildfowling and when doing this type of shooting its very likely that you will knock and scratch you gun get it wet etc, so for me its the perfect tool for the job, would love something more expensive but i think i would leave it in the cabinet as i wouldnt want it to get ruined, simple fact of the matter is i will use it for the three years and then prob get another one, and for just over £100 a year for 3 years isn't a bad cost for a gun in my eyes.

I agree with others there are better made guns out there but you need to weigh up what the gun is used for, how much you will use it and where it will be used.

Ye they will fix it ? you cannot make a silk purse out of a sows ear,they are utter rubbish, do not buy a hatstand,get a benelli mate different class of gun.

Hatsan have the worst reliability and safety record of ANY shotgun currently available!

 

Don't believe a word word I say, look at the history here, or any website you care to look at and compare Hatsan problems with ANY other shotgun!

 

The Barrel let go on the one I bought for my lad with me standing next to it, there are those that suggest I have an axe to grind with Hatsan, you are CORRECT, near death experiences tend to stick in your mind!

considered getting one myself mate but after all the bad reviews i found it better getting a second hand beretta. it beats the cheap feel to the escort.

yoou'll spend just as much getting it repaired as it costs to get a decent second hander bud
