trigger2 3,137
looked on the txt last night and rain was forecast. so i decided to take the pup to a area that usally holds a few rabbits as the conditons would aid him a bit when working, there wasnt a bloody drop off rain all night so the pup had his work cut out but done well. i had a steady walk over a few fields and picked the odd run or two in each field leaving loads of rabbits to carry on with there nights feeding. as the night went on the pup started to pick the odd rabbit up here and there, his retrieve wasnt spot on but thats a small matter. i decided to call it a night after 10 rabbits but temptation got the better of me and i couldnt resist trying just one more run which made the tally upto 11. he will be 6 months old thursday Quote Link to post

stabba 10,745
Ive spoke to a few lads in depth about this subject(entering dogs early)and they all say the same. they say go for it. All these lads have dogs that have worked to a ripe old age thus debunking the myth that this is bad for the dogs. Quite the contrary infact. Less injuries...more field craft and a helluva lot more work. It may not be to everyones idea of a good thing but i think i,ll go with the lads that have tried and tested this method. Well done Trigger pal on a good nights work and a nice healthy looking strong pup...atb stabba 1 Quote Link to post

trigger2 3,137
thanks for the replies. the pup had plenty left in his tank as i had stoped lamping and still had three and a half fields to walk. At this time there was a break in the cloud and the moon gave enough light to see farely well, the little fecker was still chaseing rabbits flat out but i chose not to lamp them.
