slaughtering own lamb question

Recommended Posts

You can kill for yourself no bother as long as it is humane but only you can eat it unless who ever is having some helps by law it is illegal to give or sell to anyone home slaughtered meat without it being processed to certain standards but as long as they all helped then no problem wink wink I do loads for the freezer every year cattle pork and lamb and once you have done them at home you won't buy from a butcher again it tastes better I suppose there is no stress they think they are moving house then bang game over I prefer to do them as the weather turns though less flys and you can hang the beef for a couple of weeks wrapped in muzzlin

The butcher won't be able to hang it for you as they can't guarantee the hygiene standards. It'll be more than his jobs worth to risk doing it.

Get yourself an old fridge (www.freecycle.org) then just take the shelves out and put a bolt through the top/sides for a hook. It'll use a bit more electric compared to newer fridges but you won't have to use it that often. (don't forget to silicon/sikaflex the hole you drill or the insulation in older fridges can flake through)
