Lithium Batteries

hello all,

Just wondered if anyone had tried to buy a new Lithium Ion battery from anyone other than Deben ?

I have seen a few likely ones on fleebay..i wondered if anyone else had tried one out...?

I'm getting backache as i get older humping around the big old SLA battery.

The highest powered 12v1800AH lithium on fleebay is still nearly half the price of Deben,s cheapest and smallest set up power wise at 12v 4AH for £80..

any clues anyone..?

here,s a link to one of the ebay offerings.

cheers all

p.s. good luck for this coming season,

they wont work. they are programmed to allow a lower amount of watts at 12v. im sure i read the max out put was 30w at 12v so you would have to link 4 batterys together to allow you to run a 100w lamp bulb.

i was going to buy 4x 4800mah batterys and put them together to produce 19200mah = 19.2ah and hope that running the 4 would actually allow me to use it on the lamp. a lamp draws a lot of amps, these batterys are designed for cameras that dont draw alot of power at 12v.

if you go ahead please let me know how you get on as ive been planning to try it for quit a while but never had the money to spare just to try it.

Im thinking that the highest powered one on ebay is about £50..and that would be at least 2 x more powerfull than Debens starter price for the 4AH.

my mate uses a striker lamp with 30w halogen bulb and a deben lithium 14ah pack...it last him more than 1 or 2 nights out before a charge..he has never managed to run out of power on a night out yet... 30 w bulb is another story for another day..But believe me it works very well.

Just a quick update.. I emailed one of the companys selling those cheaper Lithium Packs..Hers is a copy of question and reply.

Dear dv-stuff,

i have been in touch with a company called DEBEN they make 12v lithium rechargable packs for use with search lights for hunting/fishing etc etc..please have a look at them and tell me what this pack of your would have thats different for the price..Debens engineer said that the AH ratings would be unreliable and they would be sub standard.. obviously yours are a much better price.. please have a look at Debens site and let me know what you can do for me with one of your packs..I could send quite a few customers your way if they really do what they say in the ratings etc etc..for example ..how long will they run a 100w halogen bulb for ?

kindest regards

Vin.

reply..

Hello Vin,

I know of Denben. Their Engineer does have a point for high drain applications the quality of the cells is critical, for powering 12v monitors e.t.c these packs are fine but for halogen bulbs you really need a Denben.

Best Regards,

Adam

i wonder how many ppl have tried it? or asked them about it?

ive sent loads of questions to most of them on ebay and only ever got 2 reply's, one saying it wouldent work and another saying if i wanted to connect a few together then i may get enough juice to run a bulb.

hence i haven't proceeded to try it yet, waiting for someone else to waste the money first lol.
