darren lurcher 4
Just a quick post about how often you clean you kennels..ie runs and kennels ..also water bowl and feeding bowls. I clean/disinfect the runs at least every morning whether they need it or not(battles black). I also clean the kennel /sleeping quarters once a week. The food bowls get washed everyday(scalding water and fairy liquid. The water bowls are cleaned everyday also with fresh water added. Would just like to know how often you,se do yours...atb stabba. i clean the dogpen twice a day before i go to work in the morning and when i come home from work before i feed them clean the bowls out 1ce a wek and change the bedding 1ce a week Quote Link to post
Bosun11 537
After reading this thred I was shamed into finally cleaning my kennels, they were new two years ago and the dogs are going for their annual bath down the canal this weekend, i do like a clean dog...! Same as the rest, it's daily for the kennels. The key is to ensure your whole set up is designed for a fast easy clean, that way it can be done without even thinking about it. In every case of dirty kennels (and dogs, they usually go hand in hand), the design made 'em difficult to clean, hence it becomes a chore and gets left longer. No excuses, if you can't house 'em properly, get out the game..!! 1 Quote Link to post
JR Yipp 111
you lot are either lying or mental............ disinfecting kennels once a day (food and water bowls inc) with VERY strong smelling disinfectant. once a week or once a fortnight fair enough but daily is verging on cruel. decent kennels can be cleaned very quickly and effectively with water and good old fashioned elbow grease. your destroying your dogs scenting abilities, harming its pads and god knows what your doing to its insides. due to disinfectants nature it will leave a residue. these disinfectants are not designed or recommend for use as being suggested. once a fortnight with hydrochlorite dilute will get all dirt, films nasties from kennels, then swilled out with virkon or similar products is more than sufficient. if piss and shit is swilled once/twice a day and stubborn stains removed with washing up liquid then there will be no need to harm your pooch. 2 Quote Link to post
