Tiny 7 1,694
Id go for a whippty type with a splash of collie fellah , Or a really good Collie/Gh, The thing about having that splash of collie (well the ones iv see) they have a bit more concentration patience when things are slow no bolts ect they seem to be hold up when others x's get board of standing looking at the mouth of holes or sat at the other side of the hedge in a stay watching that side for you ect, But thats JMO people look for diffrent things in a ferreting dog you might just be after a point and slip type ect.. A straight whippet takes some beating at ferreting also, Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
Our team is - a whippet, a 3/8 5/8 collie grey and a beddy/grey x bull/whip, they do what we need them to. We are also thinking of adding a beagle/Russell. Most of our ferreting also involves a lot of hunting up though. Quote Link to post
Country Joe 1,411
I have always been a Beddy X Whippet Man, but this time I have gone for a Ped whippet, he is Five and half Months old, so its early days, my Beddy crosses were all good markers, so fingers crossed with the Whippet. jf1970 328
no but it will sit at the holes waiting to grab them as they bolt there very patient dogs thinking of getting a bedlington cross collie whats ur ideas i wouldn't think an f1 beddy collie would be the quickest for rabbits would it ? i don't think you have really thought this through have you? you don't see many (if any) of these crosses around, i think there is a reason for that. I havn't seen or heard of any rabbit dogs that catch rabbits on patience alone, they would have to have a bit of speed in the x to be classed as a decend rabbit dog imo. You say they are patient dogs, how do you know, have you worked this x before? Edited August 21, 2011 by jf1970 Quote Link to post
