Elmer Fudd 2011 39
ask that on here and the tw*ts will say STAFFY OR PIT BULL cross with what ever ther mate as on his back yard cause they wouldnt no what a working terrier is at all 3 Quote Link to post
Rabbiting man 1,192
Any working terrier can be a alrounder if the time was put in and the breeding was right in the first place Quote Link to post
Stabs 3
I wouldn't even dream of stating what is or isn't the best all round terrier, but I can say that the best all round dog that I have had was a terrier and she was 3/4 Staffordshire Bull Terrier 1/4 Patterdale. If that makes me a twat then so be it. As a pest controller she was a god-send to me and she tried her hand at pretty much everything. I used to use her with the air rifles and shotgun; she would find and kill foxes on top for fun; she would work tirelessly retrieving geese and ducks for me; I used to lamp the becks with her and she'd keep me in ducks; and you could dig to her, even though at 24lb she had limitations as to where she could be used. I can state categorically though that she was useless at the ratting game. Quote Link to post
erik 71
the jagd is the only one who is really bred to be a all rounder , 1 Quote Link to post

jayjay 264
A PLUMMER TERRIER.................. cheers, jay. Quote Link to post
obi2 239
I would say a border or jack Russell but as you can see from the pics above if you put the time and training in most breeds can be allrounders Edited August 20, 2011 by obi2 Quote Link to post
HGN 150
home, kids, show, work - rats, bushing, ground, rabbit, fox - dig (bay/hold) or bolt - what does all round mean? Quote Link to post
dev 227
What is expected off an all rounder?? Kill rats? Bush rabbit, and dig foxes? Then any good digging dog will make an all rounder, but a bushing/ratting terrier won't. Quote Link to post

Rabbit Hunter 6,613
I agree with Dev's post. A proper 'digging' dog should be able to deal with everything you throw at him, I wouldn't want a terrier to be a bushing dog, because the chances are as soon as they get there noses down or come across an earth they'll be in. DEV thats a sweeping statement theres a pal of mine over there who has a little cross bitch she started out as a bushing terrier who would pick up as well since he took her over there she's turned into a handy marker /digging bitch terrier's are not robots some will some wont it not set in stone , some dont ever see anything but a pen then terrier box then people expect them to enter , some will some wont but if given the chance to work lesser qarry they might have taken to ground work at a later stage how many terriers have been binned due to not been given a fair chance , who's to blame the terrier or the owner Edited August 20, 2011 by gonetoearth 1 Quote Link to post
