deadlyshot 25
Right ive been on here a lot and asked alot of questions some stupid maybe but thats what you get when your a young one stating on your own! anyway im getting Really frustrated with my dog she is a lakeland x patterdale terrier and she is nearly 12 months old I went out with her today and by god i could feel my blood boiling she is just such a lazy c**t all im after her doing at the moment is bush for rabbits and whatever else moves like rats or stoats ect but there is no way she is gonna do that i keep saying to myself you have to go in the bushes to f*****g find something you daft bitch. for instance we will get to a nice big bramble bush right! seen rabbits run into it so i know there in there somewhere even if they have gone down their holes they are still in there so my dog got her nose to ground which is good she can obviously smell the rabbits that they have been there then she'll stick her head in then pull back out and im then thinking to myself go on get in i also egg her on to get in nope nothing or another thing she'll do is she will hear something in the bush so she'll stand there and you can see she wants to go in so i egg her on again and sometime she will go in there but im thinking to myself if you didn't wait so f*****g long to get in the bush you might of even seen the rabbit you know or she'll run round the bush as if she trying to cut the rabbit of. but another day she will work pretty well now im not one for having a dog work when she wants to work i want her to work every time we go out So im gonna give her till winter and if she dose not improve i think i should get rid as i keep saying to my missus as she brought me the dog as a xmas present i didn't want the dog to be a lap dog i wanted it do use as a hunting dog tool whatever you know even saying this it may be down to me i don't have anyone to go out with so she not learning anything from other working dogs and i only have the one dog maybe i should of got a dog that was already working what do you think i should do and cheers for advice given Quote Link to post

deadlyshot 25
this is my first dog of my own but i used to go out with my brother and his dogs a long time ago and i started taking her out about 9-10 weeks old but i don't know if there is any special way of getting them to go in the bushes but i cant understand that she does go in the bushes but no all the time she has caught a few rabbits thinks its about 5-6 shes had this year so she is game when she sees a rabbit but obviously not enough it just makes me think i cant do anymore and i just start getting annoyed with her so i just call it a day and go home i take her out everyday for a few hours Quote Link to post

sallie 67
Have you tried giving the dog the company of another terrier after all they are pack animals. If you have had him as a pup and he has not seen much of pack life he will only have you to show him the way? I am lucky i have7terriers and they live as a pack the pups learn from watching the others and even the pups i have now at 6 weeks old mix in with the other terriers they see what is going on and want to participate in whatever the others are doing. Just a thought that he is just ignorant to the way of the world? Quote Link to post

sallie 67
Probably better to find someone with a working terrier that you could go out with, you cant beat experience. Where abouts are you in the country? Quote Link to post
