Country Joe 1,411
There has been a few negative posts on other sites about the new Mark3 being complicated to work, bother with collars not working, and the main one, false readings, a lot of complaints, saying it reads, say 4ft only to find ferret is two ft away. so is it worth going for one, after years of using the Mark1? Jamie m 668
Used it all last season for the first time the only time i had the problems you mentioned were. 1 battery in receiver needed changing . 2 battery's in collar needed changing , and the worst problem of all , 3 didn't turn the bloody collar on in the first place doh , number three is the biggest bummer , Quote Link to post
Jingo 6
Same as jamie bought one for last season and had no problems at all, i think if you start off with the mark3 youll be fine but if your used to the old knocker boxes then the flashy lights and pitch changes of the mark3 take bit getting used to but its nowhere near as difficult as people make out, higher the pitch closer you are. got it with the mark3m collar and yes make sure you have turned it on with the magnet. never had any problems myself and if ever i did deben have a good reputation as regards to replacements and repairs. socks 32,253
I have used the mk3 for a few years now and in my opinion it is far superior to the old system. I never fail to drop down exactly on top of the ferret every time. A very reliable and accurate piece of kit when used correctly. 1 Quote Link to post
mick20 23
Got to agree with socks, great bit of kit, been using it for a couple of seasons and find it very accurate at locating collar( even when ferret has managed to slip it off ) Quote Link to post
simonrocco 175
iv got one when i first got it it was working fine really accurate but now i cant seem to get it to say less than 5ft iv tried new batterys but it still does the same thing it still locates the position of the ferret but not accurate on the depth so im back to using the old grey box. stealthy1 3,964
had a bit of trouble with it not reading the correct depth. Is there anything you can do to fix this? Turn down the locator dial as you get near the ferret, it will put you with in six inches Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
The only problem with the MK3m is the batteries that come with it, they are crap and near to death when you get them, change them straight away and the MK3m will piss all over its rivals, bit expensive, but if your idea of ferreting is waiting around for hours when a five minute dig is on the cards, then crack on, its your day out Quote Link to post
tegater 789
Drops you onto the ferret just perfect. Use it as per the instructions and it is the dogs nuts. Mine is anyway. Quote Link to post
Neal 1,869
I'm lucky in that I never used the old grey box so all my ferreting has been done with the Mk 3 and I find it works fine. Quote Link to post
