Joe67 239
I got permission yesterday at a local livery,so today i thought id go over with the 2 jills and hob to show am keen and not like the previous people the wumin mentioned that took the piss abit.Anyway i went over in the pissing rain walked all over the livery and seen no holes or rabbits, the wumin swears theres a few rabbits about but i seen nothing, there was a few holes in the field near by and there was alot of over grown nettles etc between the field that i looked through best i could. The wumin was good enough to let me work the land so i told her ill be back in a month or two once everythings died off and ill see what i can do from there. She seemed happy enough at that. So i got back into the car soaked and had 3 bored ferrets looking at me thinking WTF lol,so i decided not to waste the day and went on the hunt for more permission.I first stoped by another local farm, the farmer says come back in a week "let me think",i think he might speak to the other 2 farms i said id been working.I then tryed another livery, the wumin seemed ok but wants to check with the farmer as theres a few shoots about,i then moved onto a old sawmill were ive to got back in a few days for an answer. Then the result of the day,i often stop by a local empty farm to see if its been took over yet,its still lying empty so i chaped one of the local cottages with the hope i could find out whos taking care of the land at the moment,it turns out some aggency now works the land instead of individual farmers and was told to try another farm,so off i went.....I got to this other farm and the farmer agreed they were working the land,i explaned i was looking for any land to ferret for rabbits and he said "i had ferrets back home,i killed them because they stank" sure the f****r was from australia, i bit my lip and never said anything as he went and got the boss phone number. So after driving about 20 miles i went home and phoned the boss,i told him i was looking for land to work ferrets, anything would be appreciated, also explained that am only experienced at working ferrets but if needed i know of others that can use other methods of pest control,he went on to explain that theres a few of them that are members of basc and do the shooting but it was the ferrets that he was interested in and said if they are good then the rewards will be really good and if i email my contact details and copy of insurance theres lots of land to work. So what started out a crappy day ended up with some good results, dont get if you dont try... Quote Link to post

tegater 789
I was looking forward to a right good read then about early season ferreting, bolting rabbits in their hundreds and no lie ups! Oh well, at least its looks like good news for future ferreting, well done. Quote Link to post
