Bull x Whippets

when a bull and whippet is crossed,i assume they are hoping for thicker skin,slightly tougher mentality.

 

doesnt moll have a nice looking staff x whippet?.

Technically a lurcher but looks more like an athletic Staffy .

moll, dem fields behind you their have a few roe in, good sport and venison we ad off it last winter.

Patrick thats a very nice pup you got there, we'll have an hour or so out tomorrow if ya can? I'm watching the combine now, on the field next to yours.

Seen some crackin bull whippets over the years, not my dog though, i'd always prefer a little more size but get a good 'un and they'll tackle anthing. You'll have some fun with yours.

Their is a grand whippet x bull on the cold wind blows DVD, working, seemed to do the job well..

Not read it all, but just to throw this in the mix. If you are breeding a half x, how many working greyhounds are out there? In comparison to the number of cracking working whips? I think that is often an important factor, get a whippet with a good nose, high prey drive and the right physical attributes (and as big as you can find) and put it to a well tested bull, and although some will throw heavy, you will get a few, really racy, heart like a lion, but now with a bit of bulk to back that heart up. Look a bit less obvious as well. Quick as f**k off the mark, decent around holes, good for hunting up cover etc.

the half bul 1/4 whippet 1/4 grey we had was brilliant lamp dog and would hunt through any cover and everything it produced seem to like the cover aswell.we introduced the whippet bull into our bull lurcher mix and the offspring to them have been exceptional over the years.we need the fast off the mark dogs that can also store an extra gear for when needed..

 

Aye, for a sight hound, the working whippets you get now, have excellent noses on them, also on the kind of land we hunt, there is usually not far for foxy to go before it hits cover, so fast reflexes and take off speed is a must.

my pup follows the terries into cover already its hilarious, brilliant tho if she does actually follow rabbits into cover especially on the fields i could be running

 

Thats a good sign lad, keen to get in and have a look, eventually she will learn (hopefully) to tune in to the terriers, if they start to yap, she will learn where to position herself for the bolt.

 

What i was saying about initial pace, is that most of the quarry (whatever) type, we see bolting from cover in the day time, is NOT running out into a big open field to get run down, it's darting out, through trees, across some rough ground, round boulders, and then is usually swallowed up, so a dog that can get up on something in the first 10-20 yards is handy.

 

You are welcome to bring her down here at anytime and do a bit of daytime mooching, ferreting or lamping.

As soon as im comfortalbe in the new apprentiship and some money ill deffo come down for a weekend!

id never seen this x before till the other day whilst out with my beddy whippet bitch and boy did my eyes light up he stood at around 21"tts blue in colour and ripped like it had been fed on the roids (not massivley built) but very trim. got chatting as ya do and the bloke had no idea what he was x'ed with but with me owning 2 staffs i could tell 100% he was a bully whippet he is around 2 yr old and never worked a night shift in his life or day in that matter. but what i can tell ya is after our chat we let both dogs off the leads after having a 20 min sniff and off the shot and i was very suprised and how quick he was nearly as quick as mine if im honest. looked a very handy dog if he was a worker shame he wasnt really but afta that im in love and am looking for one my self when work picks up and more dollar comes in i shall be investing in one i tell ya that

i seen one lure coursing and i honestly couldnt believe how rapid it was, shocked me as it beat my shivering rubbish

Got a halfx off powell and she is around 19". Similar to the blue boy dog up the thread but more muscle.

Done a fair bit with one of JP's bull/whip's and they really are pocket rockets and what I've seen they punch well above there weight.
