JakeGrocott 0
I went out today for my first ever hunt! i went out at about 7:00am and when i got to the field there was rabbits everywhere. A little over eager to shoot i lay prone fired at a rabbit at about 25 yards and the pellet whizzed right over its head, then it and all the other rabbits ran straight into a huge bush set in the middle of the field. After waiting for about 20 minutes a brave rabbit came out of the bush, i watched it for a while waiting for a clean shot. I went down onto my knee, aimed and fired the rabbits fell straight down, kicked his leg for about 5 seconds then went still. I walked over picked the rabbit up and put it into a bag. After waiting for another hour or so it didn't look like any more rabbits were going to come out today so i took a quick photo packed up my stuff and left. The first outing wasn't a huge success but i was happy enough with earning my first kill. I look forward to many other outings! Also i noticed the rabbits eyes were completely scabbed over, does anyone know what this means?? ATB Jake Edited August 14, 2011 by JakeGrocott Quote Link to post
Sweeney-Todd 208
Hiya Jake. Congratulations on your first kill mate, well done you first of many for you I hope. The rifle looks very smart, and looks comfortable to shoot. Nice picture too. A quick tip for you Jake......the next time you drop a rabbit, leave it where it is, because the rabbits will hear your footfall when you walk up, and wont be keen to come back out, collect your kill when your ready to move Look forward to your next post. secretagentmole 1,701
Scabbed over eyes indicate Myxomatosis. If there is plenty of meat ont he rabbit eat it, humans cannot catch it. Nice shooting, eyes don't look scabbed to me! Good shooting, nice looking kill, make a decent meal that will! Quote Link to post
