jigsaw 11,899
I was listening to the radio this morning and they were saying on it that New Zeland were hoping to recruit many thousands of trades people to reconstruct the towns damaged by the volcanos there.I was thinking, would the members on here be willing to pack up their hobby/dogs/ferrets and go work for a few years.I asked myself that today and after the last 34 years never being without a dog its a hard one to answer, but the way things are going and no hope of employment for the future in Ireland my thoughts are swaying a little towards the possibility of travelling. It wouldnt be an issue for me anyway I reckon as Im that bit over the preferable age limits.Being close to the big 50 I think the younger folk have not much to worry about. What do you reckon personally, would you be willing to leave the country indefinitely and say good bye to your working animals and guns etc.I think a little bit of me would wither and die if I was dogless for a long period of time Edited August 13, 2011 by jigsaw
Born Hunter 17,832
The only way I could leave it all behind was if I truly believed I was going to live the 'good life' where everyday I would get up and love life. Otherwise it just wouldnt be worth it.

TOMO 27,284
wouldnt go live abroad,i hate foreignors Theres plenty of your countrymen in N.Z in fact the population of NZ is only 5 million, for a country the size of britain ide go jigsaw, no probs, its a great country, and theres plenty to hunt rabbits hare millions of deer, pigs, wallabys possums,, the only thing you cant hunt is fox,, cos there arnt any. whilst i love my hunting , your family come first, so if you have to give it up for a while so be it

In a situation like that its not really a choice, you have to do what you have to do. And if by moving I was reasonably sure my situation would stabalise for myself and most importantly my family then I would be away.
jigsaw 11,899
Yeah I know what yer all saying,if a fella had to go,I dont think you'd have time for the first year or two to do anything but get established in work and save some coin. The thing with going is,would you leave not only the dogs etc behind but your whole family too.Its just a topic I thought might be interesting to have.Im afraid my age is against me and I dont think I fit the criteria they seek.I know it sounds like heaven with all the game species there but would you fit in with the locals, would they want you around being of different cultures etc.The thing with me is I was never outside of Ireland for longer than 2 weeks, lol and I find the idea rather daunting and nerveracking. mossyh07 64
They way i look at it is that ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I had my visa's and everything sorted for going to Oz to find work but have put it off because i have now found work here. If people who were behind on a mortgage and loans, out of work struggling by on the dole and basically scraping by week to week i think they would be mad not to think about emigrating. There is more to life than dogs and hunting. J.M.O

rob190364 2,594
The only thing that'd stop me is not regularly seeing my parents, sisters, neice etc. If I wasn't close with them I'd up sticks and leave this country behind in a heartbeat! It would cost a few quid getting your dog over there sure, but if you were making decent cash while you were over there you'd soon make it back up again.
