omegathelast 160
I agree with all the above, just keep taking her out and let her instincts take over. Better still go out with some decent respectable people who are already working their dogs to fox responsibly for good reasons, keep away from any idiots and ignore any bravado. Always be aware of her potentiall going to ground if you are on your own, be vigilant so you dont get caught out and un-prepared. Some dogs just 'have it' and you will see them scenting where foxes have been and it all progresses from there. If you want to enter her to ground best be with ppl who have done it (successfuly) before. Good Luck. Look after her, she looks like a good dog and from what youve said has made a promising start! hack 301
if she/s gould bred like you say i would put a locator collar on here even when just bushing for the simple reason she is going to come across an earth sooner or later and you wouldnt want to lose her atb 2 Quote Link to post
hedz31 1,308
Just keep trying her eventualy the penny will drop its easy enough getting a terrier to go to ground its getting it to stay thats the key point, dont be miffed if she doesnt take straight away some terriers dont till later on at 15mths shes old enough to try in my eyes but like i say they all mature at different stages mentally, dont rush her or force her let her set the pace if ye rush and force her it will ruin her, start small let her build up confidence early easy sucecess is a winner for a young terrier and do not over do her and do not be miffed if she makes mistakes,i would also consider stopping her on rabbits, if ye get her going to ground and working fox and ye bushing rabbits it wont be long before ye digging her out of bunny setts 1 Quote Link to post
