ripoff gamefair admission prices

Recommended Posts

In this economic climate with gas electric prices through the roof, people losing jobs left right and center, wages you earn being spent on essentials

Admission price just to enter a game fair at £15 in advance or £17 on the day.

is it worth it ??? I wont be going this year.

Most of the usual people I go to the show with are staying away aswell

do you think Ian Harford at countryman fairs will lower the game fair prices if you boycott this year

Its not just the show goers not happy with the admission but also the traders aswell

what are your thoughts

its not the entry costs that bug me, its the bloody outragious cost of drinks and food, pre-booked my MGF this year but it will be a flask and sanies unless i can get some o/t in before the end of this month

I think it's pure economics. Everything is going up so there is a knock on effect everywhere.

Our local school always had a Marquee for it's summer fair but this year the cost had risen to such an extent that they had to cancel it. The provider listed cost increases in fuel, vehicle insurance, liability insurance and employee insurance.

When you consider the amount of Marquees, employees and vehicles involved in just setting up a show???????

The thing is that the organisers know that people that really want to go will pay the price, as I do, I have to agree with Niel82 though , Flask and sandwiches is the only way to do it.

The traders also get hit hard in the pocket by the organisers, last I heard they pay by the sq ft I was told it was £10 per sq ft but the food sellers there prices are something rediculous £2-3k per show.

Now bearing in mind these traders have also got to gain over £1000 before they even sell anything just to cover their costs.

times are hard and getting harder :icon_eek:

Was at lowther yesterday, 15 pound to get in , family ticket was 40,,,, but should nt the lads who show lurchers and terriers get a discount, as their putting on an attraction at these game fairs for all too see. ? nine out of ten never get time too leave the rings too look about the show, so personaly i think WE SHOULD STAND TOGETHER ON THIS ONE , DISCOUNT AT ALL GAME FAIRS IF YOUR SHOWING DOGS PLEASE. Gamefairs have got theirselfs into a vicious circle, greed, they charge the trade stands so much that the traders can't give anybody bargains anymore, they charge silly money on the gates so any decent offers ain't so decent once you have to pay the entry fee especially if you've got your family to pay in aswell, the traders stuff is over price because of their fees, less people go because of this so they put the prices up more to compensate and it just digs the hole deeper, if I go to a gamefair it'll have terriers and lurchers that's the only reason il go because like I said there's nothing worth buying that you can't get off the net even laying postage it'll still work out cheaper , to have to pay into a gamefair just to take your dog to the show I think this bit needs sorted out, But it won't get sorted out because people will always go, if they dropped prices for traders, entry fees etc, traders would be able to bargain a bit and more people would go

used to go to the smaller shows run by locals hopeing to raise funds to carry on the show and premote the hunt/ clay ground /pony club shooting and dogs in their area with B.A.S.C and others as stand holders but these small shows i.m.o. have been killed of by the large shows run by events people one example was a small show close to hexam this did ok untill a local landed gent started his own show held on the same weekend as the the small one he offered the trade stands a very good deal and so tempted them away from the small show it only took two bad years to put the little show out of busines and soon as it closed the larger show bumped up the price to the trade stands and joe public but this event now is more for those interested in horse now and thats how its avertised as a horse show not a game or country show.I have gone to one or to of the larger events and after walking about for a few hours i was as bored as wor lass and the kids as it seems that one stand was alot like the other and if you went to two events in the same year you came accross the same stands in both.its all about the money.

I really liked going to Scone it was just once a year and although the entrance money was expensive ,i meet all my mate's got a load of gear i would otherwise pay postage on and then we had a barbecue in the car park .The last twice ive been i couldn't find what i wanted because its turned into a COUNTRY FAIR NOT A GAME FAIR which is a world apart in my eyes so next year i will save my cash

i suppose when you way it (all) up, entry, food, travel=fuel, its a expensive day out. But if you only go to say5- 6 shows a year it not to bad. But for family people it must be hard, i norm just have the dogs, so its just entry and the odd hotdog+cup of tea . Went to north wales (Bala) show sunday, it was £ 10 quid in , spent £ 25 over the day , and had a good day met some nice people there, and done well with dogs in the show.
