rob190364 2,594
I've noticed there's quite a lot of people saying they're now lamping, both in threads and on their status etc. Where I am 10 minutes after it's been raining the ground is bone dry again, the ground seems way too hard to be running dogs on yet? and isn't it a bit warm aswell? boyo 1,398
went to get one of my youngsters a run the other day travelled a fair distance before finding a suitable run . got her out of the car looked down at the ground and thought to myself no way and put her back in the car.not worth the risk after waiting this long and the season just round the corner.mind you when i was younger and more impatient it would have been get on bitch and to hell with the concequenses Quote Link to post
HarryWatson 99
i just like to say no matter how much rain you get when them silage field are cut they are like iron that goes for them stubble fields they seem to soak the water up if you whait afew more week then things might change like you said it no use smashing the dogs feet up after all thi s time waiting Quote Link to post
rapidjenky 97
nice deep grass cow fields for me. only decent place i got to run my dog anyway. Quote Link to post
nick.c 0
I have been sitting here perusing some of these posts and i cant understand why some people are running their dogs in high summer, for one most of the ground is too hard and you risk injury to your dog and two, rabbits and hares will be full of milk. (female ones that is) I can understand if the farmer asks you to thin them out abit i mean if you dont someone else will right, or to bring a young dog on so to gain experiance but running out of season never has been or never will be for me. alan626 305
last year i dug cubs in janurary and that stoped me digging for the rest of the season so starting 2 weeks early just getting the dogs tuned in for the coming months.. with the bad weather there giving for this winter i dont think lads are going to get half the amount of work for there dogs as they would like to Quote Link to post
Guest born to run1083
would of thought you would of known that the ground would be hard before even leaving lol my concerns for the winter is there getting colder as years go by making the ground solid so reduces the amount of time in season we get to run dogs like post above highlighted which Is a huge factor last few years. plus with them breeding early in places can't win Quote Link to post
