seven eighth greyhound 1 eighth pbt

Recommended Posts

nine years ago i bred a litter of these by putting my threequarter greyhound quarter ptb in pup to a pure greyhound was wondering has anyone on here had a cross like this the whole litter were easy to enter to all quarry and as you would imagine very fast. but were injury prone as they were crazy with massive prey drive.incidently the one i kept would take hare daytime on a regular basis but she was always very fit .

could you tell the difference between one and a straight greyhound, ive seen 7th 8th collie cross and it was like a slightly heavyer track dog.

Years ago a Greyhound Coursing enthusiast Lord Orford put apbt into his Coursing Greyhound Strain and gradually put them back to Pure Coursing Greyhounds till they were only a tad PBT.

He was very successful and his lines still manifest in todays lines.

A bloke i helped with his Greyhounds in the early ninetys had a Dog named Miller.

The first time i saw it i thought it was a 3/4 grey 1/4 pit ( a stunning greyhound and pure )

Definatley a throwback to Orfords Strain.

Mate you are wrong in the 1700's Lord Orford set out to inproving the Greyhound Lord Orford crossed Bulldog to Greyhound not Pit Bull the bulldog in that time looked like todays pit bulls as with Whippets have a outcross of Staffordshire Bull Terrier

The sire of my own pup is bred that way. There were 4 in the litter and all were excellent. The sire is the gamest dog i've ever seen, never seen a dog that hates foxes as much! the only bad point is that the dogs were too fast, the 3 of his litter mates died running and he can hardly run because of an on going leg/wrist problem. He was put back to a coursing greyhound bitch and there's at least 5 that i know of out of that litter that are killing foxes no problem but have been injury prone (legs/wrists/shoulders)

Alot of people talk about the % of bull giving dogs their gameness but i think the part the greyhound side plays is completely under estimated after seeing these dogs work.

BRUN I AGREE .

PREY DRIVE IN A FULL GREW IS NEXT TO NONE,STRAIGHT ELECTRIC SPEED IS UNCOMPARED..

GREWS INJURYS ARE DUE TO INTNSE DRIVE AND INSTINCT,BUT THERE NOT BUILT FOR THE JOB.

TRACK DOGS ARE AMAZING BUT NO CONCERN FOR THEMSELVES AND CANT TURN

3 turns your right about the speed drive and injury prone but completely wrong about not being able to turn and quote being like the ark royal .mine and my mates and a few others i kept in contact with all said the same they were real tight with their quarry on the turn, you dont catch the amount these caught in small and big running ground if you cant stay tight with your quarry .and brun i agree with you on the greyhound giving unbeileivable prey drive .their prey drive is second to nothing in my opinion.

Would this Miller dog have been called "Mick the Miller"?
