deepcarr 0
I am thinking about getting some ferrets to work, I have the permision, but I spoke to some bloke who wanted to sell me some ferrets and he told me that you cannot keep hobs and jills together, but as a lad my mate had two ferrets a hob and jill and kept them together with no problems, is there any truth in this or was he trying to sell me his jills. I didn't buy them nor will I as he had to much talk. glad for any advice before getting started Thanks, Quote Link to post

andyp 9
At this moment all our male and female kits are kept together, but next year Jan--Feb time i will split them up, if you want them to stay together you will need to consider the following options. Keep them together until they come in season, then seperate them, and get the Jills jabbed to bring them out of season. Have the Hob vasectomised, they can stay together, but the hob will also mate with the jills but not get her pregnant ( if the operation is done right), this will cause the jill to come out of season. Have the hob castrated, no more rancid polecat smell when he is in season, but the jills will need to have the jill jab, or an implant to bring them out of season. We used to have a vasectomised hob that stayed with his jills all year round, no problems and saved an absolute fortune in jill jabs. Quote Link to post

Country Joe 1,411
I have a brother and Sister, and although being one of the old School, I will have the Hob Vasectomised, I have made a temporary Hutch 3ftt long, that the Jill will go into, after the Hob has had his wicked way, then when she is out of Season she will be returned, as they can be quite hard on them. dave4178 5
Ferrets are social animals, that live in groups called "a business". Your hobs and jills should be fine together mate. Just remember to split them up before mating season, unless you have a vasectomised hob or want kits. Quote Link to post
