Shazza 52
Losing a much loved dog whether it's a family pet or worker is like a knife through the heart The best way you can honor her memory is to take on a youngster to occupy your mind & time, an empty home is cold & unwelcoming. Get yourself a pup, i'd go for something a bit different because you are not replacing your girl. You sound like a very good & caring owner and some lucky pup would land on it's feet with you. Time will ease the pain but not erase the memories. Atb mate Quote Link to post
wheaton grey 0
Sorry to hear about your loss fella , its never easy and you never get used to it but your dog was lost having the time of its life and doing what they are bred for , what your feeling now is a perfectly normal reaction and i felt the same way first time i lost a dog , remember the good times and pile them back into your new pup , onwards and upwards mate Quote Link to post

FightTheBan 1,147
Lost the best lurcher I have owned a couple of months ago in a kennel fight. If the sport means that much to you, you will get over it. The thought of chucking it never crossed my mind for a second. ATB FTB 1 Quote Link to post
Born Hunter 17,832
Thats working dogs for ya, it wont happen to every dog but all things have to die eventually and sometimes the circumstances are not favourable. If you really loved working the dog then you wont be able to live your life without that buzz. In a month you will feel different, if not then stay away because your heart aint cut out for it pal. atb Quote Link to post
Tallyho 181
Maybe take a bit of time out and you might feel different about having another lurcher, It is a shame when we lose a dog . Quote Link to post
fcuktheban 140
Sorry to hear about your loss, we all know there is a danger when we take our dogs out. All we can do is enjoy our time out and hope for the best. Sometimes things happen no matter how much we try to keep the dogs safe. Quote Link to post
