Guest Frank
Well, me whippet pup is just over 6 months old now and doing great. I have been watching her for a wee while now and she is more hunt then play, cought a blackbird their the other morning in the garden  So, after much thinking and messing about, off i went out just for an hour last night, to see how she would do on a good bunny. The night was not the best when i arrived, bit calm, just a slight bit of wind. The first feild, their was a few in it, had my pup on a slip and she was pulling this way and that, going round in circles sniffing the wonderfull scents that abounded round her feet. I must get a longer slip lead, as this morning, my arm is dropping off. As happens, she did not spot bunnys scurrying off and i could not get close enough for a decent slip, as the bunnys were a wee bit wise i think. Why is it that when lamping and their is not much wind, each foot step sounds like an elephant walking on boards? Anyhow, i eventually, sliped her on a bunny about 20 od yds away, it went straight down a hole. But, on her way back, their was a squater and she put the nose down and lifted it out of its seat, couresd it, turned it once and picked it up on the run , CHAMPION. Came straight back home after that, not a breath out of her when she got it and she was keen as musterd. Will leave her now for a while, another learning curve for her, but, she has a lot to learn. Frank. Quote Link to post
