Rik 49 Posted August 10, 2011 Report Share Posted August 10, 2011 Hi Im new to this section of the site and I was just wandering if anyone else fishes the River Trent for Barbel,around my area its fishing well at the moment on the last 4 sessions I have had 10 Barbel to 6lbs 8 Chub to 4lbs 11 Bream to 8lbs and an 8lb Pike on a sardine/anchovy bollie which I managed to land because it had picked up my cage feeder that got snagged on its teeth This is my 1st season on the rivers so Im very pleased with the way its going so far,I usually fish for spiecimen carp and have done for about 20yrs my PB is a 30lb 2oz ghostie Quote Link to post

andyp 9 Posted August 11, 2011 Report Share Posted August 11, 2011 Where abouts on the Trent are you fishing?, last year the biggest barbel we had was 14lb, pike 27lb, bream to 11lb, and one very large fish that took 100yds of line off the reel on its 1st run when i was pike fishing, managed to turn it just under the Tubular railway bridge and this large tail appeared out of the water then it shot off again snapping 18lb main line like cotton. We also had a large fish swirl at a pike of about 12lb as we were about to net it, my brother nearly brown trousered at that one. Quote Link to post
